El Rio Warehouse Crew: Care Packages for Refugee Families

Expired

Description

HELP SORT AND BUNDLE PERSONAL ITEMS AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS FOR REFUGEE FAMILIES.

Refugee families come to the U.S. with very little. Catholic Charities provides services to eligible government-approved refugees from all backgrounds, including assistance with public benefits, medical, housing, and financial needs in addition to employment, vocational and immigration services. Eligible clients include refugees, aslyees, Cuban-Haitian entrants, victims of trafficking, and Special Immigrant VISA (SIV) holders from Afghanistan and Iraq.

At our El Rio Warehouse, located on the South Loop and Almeda Road, volunteers help sort and bundle care packages filled with essential household goods and personal items that refugee families need to start their new lives.

NOTE: We cannot accept court-mandated community service hours for any of our volunteer opportunities.

Each volunteer aged 14+ must sign up under their own account. Parents please do not sign up on behalf of your teenage children. For children 13 and younger, please sign up as a team and bring a paper youth waiver.

For any questions or more information, please contact Mark Osborne at mosborne@catholiccharities.org.

Church, youth, community, and community groups of 10 or less are welcome. To register your group, please click here.
