Volunteers will assist the education liaisons with the intervention and after-school programs working with refugee students. Intervention takes place during school hours and staff/volunteers work with the student in the classroom or pull them and work with them separately.
After-school programs take place on campus and it is usually two hours. We provide homework assistance and other activities to help the children understand the US culture through various activities and projects as well as engage them with other students from other cultures, with a focus on English practice.
We ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of six months because we want students to have consistency in their tutoring. For the safety of the students as well as staff, we ask all volunteers to go through a TB test.
This opportunity will take place at various schools.
