Opportunities From: Catholic Charities Galveston - Houston

Assist in prepping and distributing groceries to families in need. This may include stocking the food pantry, sorting donated items for quality and bagging groceries for individual families. Volunteers may also assist clients to fill out required information for the Houston Food Bank.

The food pantry hosts walk-up clients on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The food pantry hosts homeless individuals on Fridays.

Volunteers aged 14 and older must sign up for shifts themselves. Parents please do not sign up on behalf of your teenagers.

This opportunity is great for groups and individuals.

Volunteers sort, assemble, and distribute grocery items for walk-up or drive thru clients. Volunteers may also help by registering clients using Houston Food Bank qualifications.

This opportunity is available every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and on specific Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (Please see available shifts below.)

When arriving, please park in the parking lot across the street from the Guadalupe Basic Needs Center. Also, dress comfortably. This opportunity takes place outdoors. Close toe shoes are required. For a map, please download this parking guide.

NOTE: We cannot accept court mandated community service hours for any of our volunteer opportunities.

Each volunteer aged 14+ must sign up under their own account. Parents please do not sign up on behalf of your teenage children. For children 13 and younger, please sign up as a team and bring a paper youth waiver.

 

The Guadalupe Market Intake Volunteer will assist the Pantry Manager in setting up appointments for clients, inputting clients in the Houston Food Bank software, and doing other administrative tasks.

Organized Able to keep a calm composure when speaking to clients Have basic computer skills

We are looking for someone who can assist us on a regular basis.
